1st Week at Home

Welcome Home Bentley! It is so wonderful to finally hold you in my arms. Before you were born it was hard for me to imagine what it would be like to have another little baby. But when I look at pictures of our family before you were born it seems like someone is missing and that special someone is you, my precious Bentley. You complete our family. Now that you are with us it is already hard to remember life without you. How wonderful to know look at your precious face whether asleep or awake.
Bentley, you are such peaceful little baby with an easy going, calm temperment. The Lord Jesus has blessed us with two very sweet little boys!
The night we left the hospital was Christmas Eve. Bentley takes a ride in his car seat for the first time-sleeping soundly the whole time. We decided to go to the service at church before heading home. Those at church were surprised to see us so soon after Bentley's birth. Even though I was exasted, both Kevin and I were ready to get out.
Dalton had fun with his bongos he sometimes shakes while we worship at church.
One of the biggest adjustments to our family is Dalton getting used to having a baby brother. The first night we were home, Dalton just came over and looked at Bentley. He has gone from not understanding why we have a real baby, to asking about "Baby" in the morning if Bentley is still sleeping. Dalton has even given Bentley a few quick kisses on the forhead at times when we have asked him to do so. Bentley smiled for this one. Dalton was excited after we praised him for giving Bentley a kiss for the first time.
Kevin is such an awesome daddy! He devotes most of his time to spending special time with Dalton after supper playing, reading, and getting him ready and in bed. It thrills me to hear them having fun together. I also love to see my wonderful husband caring for both of his special boys.
Bentley has been cluster feeding a lot at night. At times, when Bentley wakes up frequently during the night, Kevin will scoop him up and place Bentley on his Daddy's chest. Within the first few days after Bentley was born, Kevin told me if I leave Bentley there, he will sleep through the night. Amazingly, Kevin slept with him on the couch one night and Bentley slept for six and a half hours. Wow! Our little one has slept a couple of other six hour nights and one eight hour night!

Daddy giving Bentley his first bath at home.
Dalton is starting to learn what it is for Mommy to have feeding time with Bentley. Some times we watch one of his favorite videos during this time.

Dalton has to try out Bentley's bouncy seat. You make Mommy laugh, my big boy! Mimi and Papa have spent some time at our house graciously helping Mom and spending some extra time with Dalton. Their presence has been a great blessing to us!

Some of Bentley's favorite things now: his bouncy seat
his swing,
resting in my arms, laying on Daddy's lap - what a great place to be!
It is wonderful to have the four of us home together.
