Summer Vacation 2010

Enjoying vacation

Great smiles.
So Precious!

Friday, July 30, we headed to Omaha Nebraska for a friends wedding and our family vacation. We were very blessed to stay at Kevin's aunts house while in Omaha. Dalton did an acceptional job riding contentedly in the car for five hours not only on the way there, but also on the way home. I was very proud of him. He had fun entertaining us with his silly faces and we delighted in watching him. We didn't arrive until nearly midnight and Dalton, although he had stayed awake most of the trip, was fast asleep when we arrived at our destination - and so was Kevin as soon as he sat down on the couch.
Saturday we just relaxed in the morning and the rest of the day was spent going to the wedding a and reception. Dalton completely missed his nap because we were at the reception at that time. He fell asleep on the way home which was already early evening. Here is our handsom, silly little clown and trying to entertain some of the guest at the reception.
Many times, the rest of the trip, when Dalton's nap time came around we were still out. Our little sweety was such a trooper and just went with the flow. Often, he would end up falling asleep in the car on our way home.
Visiting the Omaha Zoo on Sunday, I was cautiously anticipatating Dalton would really enjoy seeing all the animals. He likes animal books, animal toys, and is thrilled when he sees animals outside when we go on our walks. But I quickly realized that unless the animals were right up close and moving, Dalton didn't even seem to notice them and was ready to keep moving.
Here is what was staring back at us. The aquarium was definitely my favorite. Dalton was only half awake by this point. Having lunch with Da.

Dalton was sound asleep before we even left the parking lot.
After we arrived home both of my boys were out.
We also went to the children's museum and found it was buzzing with kids. We later realized that it was the week before school started in Omaha and this must have been thee reason for so many people. Regardless, Dalton had fun in and especially enjoyed the balls, blocks, and water areas.
Definitely have to try the corn. Whenever we go to restaurants people are always smiling at Dalton and commenting how sweet he is. When Dalton realizes he has there attention sometimes he will start making funny faces to make them laugh. Dalton loves to make people laugh. He is such a joy to us!
Since we took our bikes, I wanted to be sure we made time to ride. One of the days we took a fifteen mile bike ride. Despite the heat, Kevin and I had fun doing this together. This was the first time we have taken Dalton on a longer bike ride and just as the rest of the week he went with the flow and took his nap while out but this time in the child bike trailer. We had a lot of fun when we stopped to eat lunch and Dalton was in a very cheerful mood.Dalton loves to play pic-a-boo. We love to play it with him!

Omaha has something called splash parks were many little springs rise up out of the ground . We decided to visit one and see what Dalton thought about them. When we arrived there where many children already having a great time skipping from one spring to the next as they ran around in delight. Dalton seemed curiously excited. But he was very apprehensive at first to get in the springs when they popped up. After Ma-ma started walking in them Dalton slowly decided to try. It was great to see his excited reaction as he discovered that he could have fun in the water too. We also enjoyed taking our bikes on the trail by the river, riding them across the Omaha River on this Bridge, and stopping to see a beautiful water fountain that light up in man diffferent colors at night.
Later in the week, we visited a small aquarium where Dalton seemed to enjoy the animals more.
Our last day in Omaha we went to a train museum. The three real trains were interesting to view inside. In addition, the small model trains are always something Kevin enjoys and could share with Dalton. The last two Days of our trip, we stayed at a farmhouse Bed and Breakfast in Praire City.
Dalton had fun trying out their piano.Although this was a treat, I was greatful the rest of the week prior we were privileged to stay in a home with more space and privacy. While in Praire City, we visited a wild life reserve museum. There where puppets there that Dalton really enjoyed.
We also ate lunch in town square. What a cutie pie!Dalton tried corn on the cob for the first time and liked it.

Although we went many places and did many fun things, the best part about our trip was that the three of us got to spend the whole week together. It was awesome wake up with my love and spend the rest of the day together.Just chill'in with Da.Dalton adores his Da and loves to spend time with him.

I am now 22 weeks and looking forward to having another ultrasound when we get back. Hopefully we can find out whether we are having a girl or a boy.
